The 14th national festival of barrack song "Zhas Ulan" opened solemnly in Taraz city. This is the final stage of the festival, the first of which took place in the regions: try-outs took place in all the garrisons and units till the end of March. The worthiest men, which then would defend the honor of their troops on the all-army level, have been chosen.
Representatives of Air Defence Forces, Navy, Land Forces, all four regional commands, Airmobile troops, Missile troops and artillery arrived in the south of the republic to participate in the festival of barrack song. Cadets of military schools of the country, cadets and pupils of the Republican military school "Zhas Ulan" named after General Nurmagambetov prepared for the song contest.
Also the military of Interior troops of the MIA, border guards of the CNS, the Republican Guard, the Ministry for Emergencies will participate in the festival. This is a long-standing tradition of the festival: to unite under his wing everyone who wears the military uniform and has a passion for musical art.

It is generally considered the most honest way. In the next two days there will be an audition. Contestants will perform in four categories: "Bard", "Vocal", "Folklore" and "Vocal-instrumental ensemble."
Members of the jury will select the best and the most talented among the military singers and musicians. Spectators and fans will learn names of finalists on April 26, on the final day of the festival. There will be conducted a gala concert after awarding the winners in the concert hall "Balasagun", located in the center of Taraz.
The festival is timed to celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan. And the festival has a patriotic directivity: songs about the motherland, military service, the valor and honor and the songs of love will be performed on the stage.
