2012 is the year when the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan celebrates the 20th anniversary since foundation. Kazakhstan Army comes under the auspices of the new military doctrine. As it’s known, it had been approved on October 11, 2011 by the Decree of the President and became a logical continuation of the previous military doctrine.
Gaining Independence the new doctrine is the 4-th (the first was adopted in 1993, the second in 2000, the third in 2007). It includes a section “Analysis of the current situation in military security sphere” which sums up military organizations activities, results and trends of development of the Armed Forces, other troops and military formations of Kazakhstan
Issues of International cooperation and peacekeeping are integrated into the section "Military and political foundations of military security." The regulations of the Doctrine take into account modern military-political situation in the world and in the region, specified the modern conditions and directions of troops development in view of modern anti-military threats. The list of military threats is approved.
On the whole military Doctrine of the Republic of Kazakhstan is of a defensive character and confirms its firm adherence to peace and good neighborly relations.
