Information on military departments at civil universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Military studies departments had been creating on the territory of Kazakhstan since 1934. The main task of military departments was preparation of specialists for the Armed Forces of the country.

Currently there function 22 military studies departments at universities which prepare reserve officers of various profiles for needs of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

1. Military studies department at Kazakh state national university named after Al-Farabi.
The military studies department was created in October 1934 and had been called as department of military-sport preparation up to 1946. In 1961 the department was abolished in connection with reduction of the Armed Forces of the USSR. In 1965 the department was formed again.

2. Military studies department at Kazakh national technical university named after K. Satpayev.

3. Military studies department at Kazakh national pedagogical university named after Abai.
Military studies department was created on 6 November 1997 by Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 1500.

4. Military studies department at Kazakh national agrarian university.
Military studies department at Kazakh national agrarian university was created in December 1996 on the base of two military departments: Kazakh order of Labour Red banner of Agricultural and Almaty veterinary institutes – by the order of minister of defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 243 dated by 4 December 1996 on the grounds of Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 422 dated by 11 April 1996.

5. Military studies department at Kazakh national humanitarian law university.

Military studies  department at Kazakh national humanitarian law university was created on 25 March 1997 by Resolution of the Government № 412.

6. Military studies department at Kazakh national medical university named after S. Asfendiarov.

Military studies department was created in 1937 on the base of Almaty Medical institute by the Resolution of PCC of the USSR dated by 5.11.1937.

7. Military department at Kazakh economical university named after T.Ryskulov.

Military studies department at Kazakh economical university named after T.Ryskulov was created on 26 June 200 by the resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 943.

8. Military studies department at Kazakh agrotechnical university named after S. Seifulin.

Military studies department was created on the base of Tcelinogradski Agricultural institute on 16 September 1958. In 1961 military department was abolished. In 1965 military department was formed again on 3.07.1965 by order of minister of higher and secondary education of the USSR № 265.

9. Military studies department at Karaganda state technical university.

Military studies department was created on 18 June 1953 on the base of Karaganda Mining institute by the order of minister of defense of the USSR № 1274.

10. Military studies department at Eurasian national university named after L.N. Gumilyev.

Military studies department at Eurasian national university named after L.N. Gumilyev was created in 2001.The military department prepares reserved officers of motorized infantry forces and officers-psychologists.

11. Military studies department at Semipalatinski state medical academy.

Military studies  department was created by the Resolution of Council of Ministers of the USSR in 1956.

12. Military studies department at East-Kazakhstan state technical university named after D. Serikbayev.

Military studies department was created on 7 September 1999 by the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 1319.

13. Military studies department at Taraz state university name dafter M.H. Dulati.

Military studies department at Taraz state university name dafter M.H. Dulati was created on the base of military department of Zhambyl Irrigation-drainage building institute on the grounds of Resolution of Cabinet Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 256 dated by 24 March 1998 and was renamed by the Directive of chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan № B-3/1/2605 dated by 13.10.1998.

Military studies department was created on 15 May 1963 under Kazakh Chemical-technology institute by the Directive of deputy minister of defense of the USSR.

Military studies department was created on 1 September 1999 by the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 1282.

16. Military studies department at West-Kazakhstan state medical academy named after M. Ospanov.

Military studies department was created in 1959.
According to the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 1708 dated by 14 November 200 and Order of chairman of Agency on public health affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 803 dated by 14 November 2000 Aktubinsk State Medical academy was renamed into West-Kazakhstan State Medical academy named after Marat Ospanov.

Military studies department was created on the base of Tcelinograd state medical institute on 13.07.1965 by the order of minister of higher and secondary education of the USSR № 105-C. the order was dublicated by the order of public health of Kazakh SSR № 23-C.

Military studies department was created on 25 January 1950 by the Resolution of Kazakh SSR № 65. On 25 March 1997 in connection with reorganization of Karaganda Medical institute into Karaganda state medical academy.
