Higher naval school of the Ministry of defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan was created in 2001 in accordance with the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 314 dated from March 1, 2001 in Aktau on the base of vocational-technical school.
Under the resolution of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 684 dated by July 10, 2003 “On renaming military educational institutions of the Ministry of defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan” it was renamed into “Naval institute” state institution.
Graduates of the institute are designated for service on ships and coast units of Navy and naval units of Frontier service of CNS RK and also for service on sea crafts, inland waterways crafts and mixed river-sea-going ships of civil Fleet of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The aim of the institute is the preparation of sea experts.
Naval Institute prepares military men on the following specialties of secondary vocational education:
- “Navigation and visual connection”;
- “Ship communication facilities”;
- “Ship engine with internal combustion and electrical facilities”.
State general educational standards (SGES of RK 3.07.459-2006) were approved by the order of the minister of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 200 dated from April 19, 2006 “On approval of state compulsory standards of higher professional education”.
Term of education is 2 years, graduates get military rank “petty officer of 2nd class” and diploma of secondary naval professional education on specialty of the corresponding profile with “technician” qualification.
