Press release on Afghanistan

Kazakhstan as a peace-loving nation and as a member of the international community, as well as a full member of the United Nations has been actively involved in settling the situation in Afghanistan.
So, in October 2010 an agreement between Kazakhstan and the North Atlantic Treaty on Kazakhstan's participation in the activities of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan was signed.

The purpose of this agreement is a legal framework for participation of troops of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the activities of staff of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.

Within this document it was decided to send four military officers to the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in staff positions, where they are not expected to participate in combat actions. That are officers on coordination, information analyst, officer of logistics, officer for public health and epidemiology.

Thus, sending Kazakh military officers to the headquarters of the International Security Assistance Force will contribute to assisting the Afghan authorities in resolving the situation in their country.
